I got $10 that says we see another Inquisition soon. Why?

The Catholic Church funded and directed the most successful and longest lasting religion-based genocide in the history of man.

The Nazis funded and directed the second most successful and longest lasting religion-based genocide in the history of man.

Now the Catholics are being lead by a man who is self-admittedly an ex-Nazi.

Pagans and Jewish people better start hiding.

Oh, gawd, here we go again. The pope is NOT and ex-Nazi. Where do these people get this crap? He was a member of the Hitler Youth, which was MANDATORY. All that means is that he's between X and Y years old, and living in Germany. It does NOT mean he was a Nazi.
Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

Aww c'mon he'd call us Pagans Devil Worshipers if given half the chance, how come we can't call him an ex-Nazi? At least people are remebering the EX part of it and aren't insinuating that he currently is a Nazi.

Oh and I'm actually just screwing around with this post, I'm more than well aware that many people in Germany were forced to do things they didn't want to do but weren't ready to be heaped together with the Jews in Concentration camps. However, maybe if they had taken a stand fewer people would've died at the hands of Hitler.

I pretty much considered myself an agnostic. To the point that I didn't perform the sacrament of confirmation in Grade 5 (try explaining THAT one to my very strictly catholic grandparents).

It was only after reading the Da Vince Code that I got my faith back again, as it brought Christ down to a more believable level, and I now consider myself a Christian again.

I dont put much faith in religion tongue.gif
all it really is, is a massive fight to see who has the best imaginary friend.
"My God has a bigger dick then your God"
its also the reason for mass killings.

i quote George Carlin.
Person 1: "do you belive in God?"
Person 2: "no"
BANG !!!

Person1: "Do you belive in God?"
Person3: "yes"
Person1: "Do you belive in my God"
Person3: "No"
BANG!!!!

so, i make my own faith.
little from here, little from there, and make the rest up biggrin.gif
works for me.

If you choose the pagan life, ya just get used to that. Right or wrong? Dunno, but it is a fact.

And I have a feeling if more people took a stand, more people would have died. Mostly the people who took a stand.

Devout atheist over here. When explaining myself in public though, I usually claim to be "a follower of the mighty Lord Agnos" -- an agnostic -- just to avoid the negative connotation when my actual affiliation isn't important.

I'd explain my reasons, but I fear that one of them in particular would sprout a torrent of heated responses, so we'll just leave it at "Yes."

I also follow the path of the agnostic. People put to much blind faith in things for my liking. To many times have I been privilaged to watch an "Open-Minded" religious discussion turn into an argument between two six year olds. (both sides end up angry and whining to their church about it)

The last point has already been shot down, I know. It's the logic (or rather, the lack of logic) of the rest of it that has me baffled.

The Catholic Church was irrefutably in power over a good portion of the world during their genocide. People believed in them in a way that we no longer do. If a priest walked up to you and told you to kill a Jew right now, would you do it? No, and you wouldn't get tortured and killed as a heathen or a heretic for refusing, either.

The Nazis were in total crushing control of Germany. They ruled the state and would and did kill people who opposed them and their laws. If they told you to kill, you did it, or you joined the bodies in the mass grave.

Even if the Pope was an ex-nazi, even if he were Hitler himself, he couldn't start up a genocide at the moment. They'd take away his giant hat and kick him to the curb. A figurehead of an institution that once was secularly important has about as much ability to start a massive genocide as I do.

That said, I'm an atheist.

I'm a Catholic and proud. Despite all of the shit people like to talk about my religion, I still remain.
One time a guy handed me a picture of himself and he said. "Here's a picture of me when I was younger." Every picture of you is when you were younger. Here's a picture of me when I'm older. How'd you pull that off? Let me see that camera.

All very good responses. I'm devout atheist. I was taught as a child that "jesus is the only way" and "God loves everyone" and all that bull. At first, I accepted it, however, not completely. Then, I began to think about God and his existance and realized what every one should have realized a long time ago. God was created by man, a desperate attempt to give some meaning to their existance. They decided that there had to be a higher being that created them, how else could they come to exist? However, they made a few errors in their Bible. What about the dinosaurs? And God suddenly changes half way through. People changed how God acted when they didn't feel like being so intensely controlled by their fantasy. He was merely a comfort food for people, no more real than Santa Clause and the Lock Ness Monster.
And no, I'm not from Montana. My last name is Tramontana. Matt Tramontana. I'm from Virginia. If you want this to become a cult, then surely we can make it one.

ATHEISM!
