SUPRISE!!!

Well, maybe not, since that's exactly what I SAID I would do.... Meh, no worries - I digress.

The point is that you - the LICD community - have more-or-less voted for the book you wanted to read together and pass on to your neighbour, so here it is.

I'm going to post some definitive rules later on - I doubt we'll need them, but I will probably need a "Get My Ass Outta Jail" card as soon as I forget to make one tongue.gif

Until then, questions and comments now go in THIS thread.

And cactus - PM your address whenever you're ready, mate, and I'll send it on ASAP smile.gif

<EDIT>

Okies, Rules and Regulations for all:

Quoth The Illusionist:

Commandment the First: Thou Shalt NOT Give Away Others' Addresses
A "no brain"er - the ONLY person you should PM or E-Mail your address to is the person directly before you on "The List", and then ONLY when they ask for it. Safety first and all, we don't want random people reading E-Mails and deciding they found a good place to send their wraps while the Police are snooping around or something....

Likewise - don't ask anyone for their Address unless you have direct reason to do so, and sure as hell NO POSTING ADDRESSES ON THE PUBLIC FORUM.

This is not just for safety's sake, it's also one of the rules of the Forum - break it and you will be reprimanded like any other post-whore-bitch biggrin.gif

Commandment the Second: Thou Shalt Remember Others When Signing The Book
There are at least a dozen blank pages throughout Good Omens (If you include the "New Chapter" pages some ways through the text, as well as the inside front and back covers), however the number of people taking part means that you can't all have one page each.

Be sensible - a message that takes up half a page is probably a little too long (unless, obviously, you are at the bottom of the list and you KNOW there's copious space left for the remaining "players").

Similarly, please keep the messages fairly clean - in the future it might get passed around again, and we'll be in trouble if someone takes offense at their 9 year old reading "For Hot ANAL BANGING, Call 0900-FUCKGJA" inside the front cover....

Commandment the Third: Thou Shalt NOT Take Thy Sweet Damn Time Over This
I'm going to set a practical time period of about 10 days to read the book - I'm not going to demand that you pass it on within this period, since there's not an awful lot I can do to enforce such a demand, but at least 2 weekends and several weekdays seems long enough to me.

If you find you need a bit longer, that's fine but PLEASE PM both me and the waiting recipient about the delay, so that we don't worry and think that you've scarpered with it smile.gif

Commandment the Fourth: Thou Shalt Keep Thy God Appraised At All Times
In other words, when you have posted the book on to the next person in the list, just post or PM me and let me know - that way I can mark you off the list and then eep track of where it is.

Nothing would be less funny than if you post it, don't tell me, and it gets lost in the 'Mail.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE - Applications for this little 'Game' are now CLOSED. It's taken the batter part of two years to get *almost* halfway through the list, and I don't think it would be fair on anyone to add any more names and make them wait any longer than they absolutely have to.

So, if anyone still wanted to join in, you have my sincerest of apologies but unfortunately you missed your chance this time around.

That all said, enjoy!

Hey, I updated the list so it should be accurate as to who we are up to. Yay, it's moving!
~Jae

Mod Edit the Second: Thanks Jaenne - such a pleasure to finally see an eloquent, hard-working Moderator in this dump of the Forum. So much better than the last guy wink.gif
~ The Illusionist

Aw, but the last guy didn't do a bad job. Real life just sucks... as I'm finding out.

I have updated the list above.

On a whim, I updated the list above. I hope no one minds. - Bodhi

I know you said that the rules are coming Illu, but I was wondering if we had set a time limit for each reader? Just curious as this may take some time if we don't.

We're still signing it right? Can we also put in a little blurb of some sorts? Of course, it'd be extremely short.

Rules posted, check the original message.

Gi@nt - There is a "recommended" time of 10 days. If you go over it, no worries, just let us know so that it doesn't get lost somewhere along the way.

b00 - the message can contain anything you like, so long as i) It's suitable for a PG13 audience and ii) it's not too big.

Other than that, common sense prevails I should say smile.gif

Rock on! Admittedly I won't see this for like, 6 months, but hey! On the plus side it means I can write as much as I damn well please biggrin.gif.

Okay, I just did a quick estimate, I'll have this in my hot little hands come September. I love speed readers!

Seriously though, awesome work setting this up Illu, this is going to be truly cool. I offer my services to scan and upload all the messages that people write once it comes my way.

Don't worry, Gibbon. I can read this book in about a day, if I work hard enough. happy.gif

Ah yes. This will be a good time. I'll be looking forward to seeing this one when it comes around. Glad I'm a fast reader, too.

And should comments written be about the book, or is it free form? wink.gif

Ahh, can't wait smile.gif

Shouldn't myself and Gibbon be put in a more stratigical place in the list? I mean Australia is probably the farthest I could send it in the entire list, it'd make sense if Gibbon got it off west coast America, then sent to Europe(?) and I can volunteer being last...

sending from here to Australia wouldn't be a problem except all the 'hostile' air in between so it goes quite a ways around and takes quite a while...

You are, infact, mostly correct Shrewd - Israel isn't as far East as I first thought it was, and is actually a lot closer to Europe than anywhere else.

You just got bumped up the list a fair way, buddy, although at this point I'd better ask for a volunteer to send it to Gibbon down in Oz.

West-Coast North America is probably closest we'll get dso for now he can stay at the bottom, but if someone in particular doesn't mind sending it all that way, lease let me know.

I'm in Alberta, which is as West as anyone in Canada is - if someone is a little closer cetainly let me know - so I wouldn't mind posting the book to Gibbon.

I'm content to remain last as it's not going to be much difference cost where I post it as there's no one else in this hemisphere. Also, just an idea, could everyone sign their location (town or country or something) when they sign their name, just so there's a record of how far this goes. It's own passport if you will. Comments?

Yup - makes sense to me. Better than having to check LICD, too.

I like the idea, too. Very cool.

And I'm never offensive or X-rated. I'm completely innocent! wink.gif

I would have no problem making the send to Gibbon, even from where I am... But it does make sense to have it come from the west coast.

And we're off!

I sent the book out on it's first official voyage 2pm this afternoon - with any luck, Cactus, you'll receive it tomorrow morning smile.gif

Just a note for you all while I have you attention - I'll be going away from the weekend tomorrow afternoon, so I won't be around to look after you all nor to update the Clash of the Titles. Sorry, again, but I can't travel 40 miles only to turn around and come back for 10 minutes at the end of the day sad.gif

So, play nice, don't make too much of a mess, and if anything gets broken then you're all paying for it wink.gif

Ciaos folks!

Just a quick note, folks -

Upon posting the book to Cactus last week, a typical padded envelope set me back by a staggering £0.26 (about 35-40cents?) and the postage was about £0.95 (Dollar-Forty, perhaps?).

I hope that alliviates some worries had by any about cost and hassel this project might take up up smile.gif
