Tauromachy

QUOTE
Bullfighting

Well I'm still feeling pretty crappy but not quite so bad, if I could get rid of some of the pressure where my head connects to my neck and get my nose to stay unclogged for more than an hour I'd be doing pretty good. At least I don't have to go anywhere today, but I do unfortunatly have to do some homework for my speach class because it's a group project, I hate group projects, but I have to read some crap, summarize it, and then email it to another person in my group. I figure I should be nice and not wait until the last minute to get it done. Anyway here come the pics.

Warning: The following pictures are actual images of Tauromachy if you are offended by Bullfighting, cruelty to animals or violence in general I suggest you don't look at them. If you do look at them and are offended by such don't come crying to me about it.

That has got to hurt, serves him right though.

For those that don't know those prongs sticking out of the bulls back were put there by "mini matadors" before the main Matador ever steps out, the prongs serve to 1. deaden the feeling in that area, and 2. weaken the bull so it's not as big a threat to the matadore.

This bull will be going down soon, again you see the prongs, but if you look closely you will also see the hilt of a sword, now had the matador done it correctly this bull would not be standing, the Matador's generally shoot for an area of the neck that kills the bull damn near instantly, unfortunatly sometimes they do miss.

I don't know what the hell happened here.

Anyway,

Enjoy.

Bullfighting in one form or another is extremely ancient. The following image is a fresco in Knossos from ca. 1500 BCE.

These nuts would actually try to grab the bulls horns, then flip onto the bulls back, and then off again onto the ground behind the bull. Seems more humane, for the bull at least, I wouldn't want to be the acrobat.
So rose up huge Aias, bulwark of the Achaians, with a smile on his grim face: and went with long strides of his feet beneath him, shaking his far-shadowing spear. Then moreover the Argives rejoiced to look upon him, but sore trembling came upon the Trojans, on the limbs of every man, and Hector's own heart beat within his breast. But in no wise could he now flee nor shrink back into the throng of the host, seeing he had challenged him to battle. And Aias came near bearing his tower-like shield of bronze, with sevenfold ox-hide, and stood near to Hector, and spake to him threatening...

I think bull is always killed in the end, regardless of the outcome. That prevents it from getting "expereinced" and learning the fight.
I lost my leg in battle. Guess what I'm walking on...
