This is currently my favourite series, since I couldnt choose one book I liked more than the others... In it there are 5 books:
Pawn of Prophecy
Queen of Sorcery
Magicians Gambit
Castle of Wizardry
Enchanters End Game

They were all great and I highly recomend picking them up if you like fantasy... Soon I'll be reading the next series...

Yup. I've read all his books and can't wait for the next. Great characterisation, humour and storylines keep you going from page to page and book to book.

I've read the first two. Nice books, well writen, but something in the storyline keeps bothering me - probably the 'l33t'ism of most the characters.

His other books are better though.

I've read -all- of his books. Including Belgarad the Sorcerer. Polgara....and the ones with Sparhawk....and also the Redemption of Althalus.

Redemption of Althalus is my absolute -favorite- of his works.

The only Eddings I've read thus far is the Elenium trilogy; it was fantastic, and I'm looking forward to reading his other work. I've heard lots of good things about the Belgariad; maybe I'll go there next.
Players may blunder through dialog with shocking ineptitude, forget the name of the country they are in, or get confused about which side they are on, but once it comes time to roll for initiative they all turn into Sun Tzu. - Shamus

I'm a huge fan of Eddings. I went on a binge with him and read all of his works as well. I didn't like regina's song though. Also I'm not a fan of his new series "The dreamers." Really slow. Not very interesting storyline.

I'm with Kayhynn on "redemption" being the best tambien.

It sure is. If I recall correctly. Too many books.

There are two series with Sparhawk and Elenia/Sepherenia/Kalten and all them

Then there are two series with Garion

And then the otehrs...

I plan to read them all... I just hate when a series end and the character never comes back... But from what I read in the first 3 pages of Belgarath the Sorceror interesting things are going to happen...

What are the Elenium (sp?) and the Rivan codex and such about?

I'd suggest reading the Mallorean before reading Belgarath or Polgara. I've read the Belgariad and Mallorean so many times I just pick up the books now and skip to the scenes I want for light reading. A very easy read and great characters to spend time with.

I haven't read any of Edding's other books though. Can anyone provide a review of any for me?

While I like his books, he did seem to be a bit too stuck on his "find a magic stone to save the world" theme. Those first 4 series were all a bit too similar. I liked the humor in them, though.

I have all the books in Belgariad and Mallorean series, including Belgarid the Sorcerer and Polgera the Sorceress. Now while I enjoyed the 'adventure' itself I wasn't much impressed with the story and stuff. And I think Shrewd is righton when he says 'l33tism' of characters. The story is just waaay to predictable and it makes characters a bit too flat.

If you want a true fantasy book check out: A Song of Ice & Fire, it is by far the best fantasy series I have ever come across (I actually place it over Lord of the Rings).

http://www.kryogenix...afe/tecII/index if you want to hear a reply from Eddings to a fan. One of the links there takes you to the MP3 of the tape he sent in reply - he writes his books in longhand instead of typing, so he's saving his hands that way.

I enjoyed the Belgariad, the Mallorean was similar, but suffered from being blatantly nice in parts. The two Sparhawk series had too many echoes of the Belgariad in them - chasing after blue stone etc - to be excellent, but they were much grittier. Althalus was crap - almost the same as the Belgariad and Mallorean tales from a different perspective, or so it felt.

I found a site where he explains why the series stories are similiar... I'll look for it again.

I got the Mallorean for christmas (finished it three days later, I read lots), must say I do like it, as a complete series they do go well together, but I agree that he does seem to get stuck on a certain theme (find something and save the world).

Doesn't mean they aren't good though, and the difference betweent he books (I've read Athalus as well) tend to be enough to make me want to keep reading and not make me think that I'm just reading more of the same thing over and over again.
