I finished The Princess Bride last night at work. Apparently, it wasn't the original version. It was a version abridged by William Goldman. Was frustrated with it in the beginning because I didn't realize it was abridged. It wasn't that bad though. I still enjoyed the story.
I want to read Buttercup's Baby next, but I don't have it, so I'm gonna go to the bookstore soon to look for it, or see if it's even out yet.
Since I don't have it yet, though, I started reading Ice Station by Matt Reilly. I've only read a few pages of it so far, but it got my attention really fast.
What are you reading right now?

With the new Wheel of Time book coming out soon, I picked up Brandon Sanderson's series Mistborn. I'm currently on the 3rd and final book. He's come up with the most interesting and imaginative system of magic I've ever seen and I'm finding the series extremely hard to put down.
Almost finished the secod book myself. He is good, isn't he?

I'm reading Tad Williams' The Dragonbone Chair after reading The War of the Flowers. He is an excellent fantasy writer.
Never been a huge fan of his fantasy actually - not really into the anti-hero. Loved the Otherland series though - great blend of sci-fi, fantasy, imagination and literary homages.

I just finished re-reading Oryx and Crake by Margaret Attwood. I love dystopias.
I've been told her other stuff is excellent too, any suggestions?

Fantastic book! If you haven't read a Handmaid's Tale, that should be your next read. I'm not as big a fan of her non-sci-fi stuff, so I can't really recommend any others I've read, but I hear The Year of the Flood is out now. (It's the follow-up to Oryx and Crake.)
Along with the Mistborn series I'm also (slowly) reading the Great Book of Amber by Roger Zelazny. It doesn't move as fast as I'd like, but hasn't bored me to the point of putting it down either. A few interesting concepts and a different look at royal family dynamics.
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

Thanks for the info. Oryx and Crake is what got me into Margaret Atwood. I picked up The Year of the Flood on Tuesday
I also got a book on cupcakes!

Just started reading the Mortal Instrument series which is pretty funny, violent, and has a good plot. Other than that, I'm reading book on Buddhism and then I'm gonna raid my book shelves for anything by Dean Koontz or Clive Barker.
It would seem my shoulder devil brought a mortar launcher this time!

So I haven't read a lot of Shakespeare in my life, but upon expressing interest to my dad, he pulled out a dusty tome from his bookshelf.
It's apparently every play he's ever written in a huge, leather-bound book about 5 or 6 inches thick. I was a tad surprised.
I'm coming up on the end of Two Gentlemen of Verona and I can already tell I'm going to read the whole thing. JOY!

This sig is just six words long.

I just started Goddess of Love by P.C. Cast. I really enjoy her Goddess Summoning series. I had to read slightly out of order, because Borders didn't have this one but did have Warrior Rising. I read Jean Johnson's Shifting Plains in there too whilst waiting for GoL to get here by mail.
I try to keep the "On My Bookshelf" sidebar widget on my site (http://blackkestrel.net ) up-to-date, but there are times I read books faster than I can really keep up.
