eh, they dump you into the same place, but there's pros and cons of each. Starchat gives you a full Java client that connects your PC directly to the StarChat IRC server. The link off of gigapants is a CGI application that routes through another server then on to StarChat. The advantage of the CGI version is, if you are behind a firewall that does not allow IRC to pass through but does allow web browsing, the java version will not work, but the CGI version will. The disadvantage is the CGI version is running on off of a standard DSL line, so it may not be as fast. Also, the DSL may go down from time to time as DSL occasionally does. No guarantees. I would say that if you're running a Java capable browser, and you don't have firewall issues, use the starchat server. If you don't have a java capable browser, or are behind a firewall, use the gigapants server. The best solution if you can do it, though, would be to install your own irc client such as x-chat or mIrc.
