I'm guessing Luke failed to destroy the Death Star in Rayne's version?
09/08/2010 Responsibility? What's that?

Most likely. I'm sure Rayne's too awesome to have meddlesome kids.

Am I and Suriander the only ones to notice that this skit is basically a Star Wars adaptation of Bush's decision to invade Iraq? You also forgot to add;
Rayne = Emperor = Bush
Rayne = Emperor = Bush

You'll charge consulting fees for a joke everyone saw coming?

I sense a disturbance in The Force, like a thousand readers just groaned in unison...

They accidentally destroyed Alderaan during a weapons test. The Death Star is still backlogged by politicians and People for Always Petting Aliens. Each energy expenditure has to explained in detail with a 200 page report. (or whatever length it is that the U.S. military has to use to explain every single bullet, rocket, shell.)
Or they're already building the Return Of The Jedi version, but can't find enough door greeters.

Man, I thought this was going to be funny. Sohmer and his damn politics. He was on such a roll before this.

I take it this is a metaphor for the USA and the War on Terror?
I can't believe we're still in that war. With our resources, it should have been over in months. Personally I've heard two different things about Iraq. They either never had WMD's, or they had them but moved them to Syria or something.

Yah Sohmer's is on one of his thinly veiled anti-USA rants again, drawing parallels where there are none. So if the USA is the Empire what comprises the Rebel Alliance? So Obi Wan Kenobi = Saddam Hussein, Luke and Leia = Uday and Qusay Hussein known for murder, rape and torture. Lets see oh yeah Yoda = Osama bin Ladin, Han Solo = Abu Musab al-Zarqawi etc. Silly and almost Orwellian ala double-speak and role reversal. Heh, War is Peace, Love is Hate. And of course the USA created bin Laden and the chickens were coming home to roost on 9/11.
Go forth and do good

You're pretty good at that straw man creation. Drawing parallels between the joke and reality in too stringent a way to make the joke seem less so, when it's already quite apt, and then you go on to bring in something which is true (last sentence) to associate it with the straw man you've created in order to make truth seem less truthiness. Good way to go with the gut there.

Terror has been around for years and will be long after I die. It's not that easy a war to win.
Every country without exception has and had WMD's. Some day, somebody in Iraq will find something somewhere in the desert.
As for the comment about Sohmer going on yet another anti-USA rant that somebody else posted. Nobody on the internet makes everybody on the planet happy. Go cuddle up to a teddy bear.

The only WMD Australia has or had are our breweries.
