I know I’ve mentioned this before, but it dawned on me this morning that I may have not made an official announcement regarding LICD: Black & White.

Long before Lar took over the reins of this strip, even before Chad, was a gentleman named Trevor Adams. Together, Trevor and I created 127 LICD strips before we parted ways.

While I’m not proud of the writing done in those strips, they nonetheless contain many historic moments that still resonate with our characters today. With that in mind, readers have long since demanded a printed book of the earlier strips. Being the completist that I am, I began looking into making it happen.

Unfortunately, I was faced with the realization that the resolution of these earlier strips were incredibly poor by print standards, even small by internet standards, and would look like complete ass in a collected book.

I left the idea alone for a while.

One day, during the time I reserve for poking fun at Lar, I said that with all his free time, he should redraw all of the earlier strips.

Imagine my surprise when he said yes.

Since then, he’s been working tirelessly to make LICD: Black & White happen, and I’m pleased to report that the book will be available within the next few months. The strips won’t be colored, but they will be in Lar’s style, the style I had always wanted for LICD.

We’ll keep you updated on how we’re doing, but for today, I wanted to leave you a little taste.

I’m giving serious thought to asking Lar if we can update LICD twice a day from here on in…

- Because I can.

Oh my freaking god. THIS COULD BE THE GREATEST THING THAT HAS EVER, OR WILL EVER, HAPPEN!
Nice to know that my body was used as a life raft for beings to escape the third world. I feel violated in a way I can't express with mere human emotions. If anyone needs me I'll be building a gateway to hell so I can share how I feel with everyone on the planet.

YES!!

I've really, REALLY been wanting to get the entire series, but always felt a bit odd doing it without the "beginnings" of it. I've read the entire series quite a few times from front to back, and can't wait to finally get everything in the same style, all together.

Thank you, yet again.

Will this include the pre Trevor bit? It's not as if that'd take much space :)

I assume you have no intention of re-doing the Chad strips?

Ah well, I like Chad's style anyhow.

So is there an estimated release date?

As an artist the only question I have is... how does Trevor feel about having his artwork negated? Don't get me wrong, I feel that Lar is a far superior artist than Trevor.... and Chad too honestly. It's just that it makes me wonder how I would react if someone decided to have my artwork redone to reflect someone else' style. On the flip side this will probably be the one time I'd actually purchase a book of an online collection. I can't afford to buy collections normally but I'll make an exception because in a way this will be mostly new content, instead of old content with a shiny cover and some filler. I do appreciate the hard work that you and Lar put into LICD and LFG every day. Thank you for keeping it a free gift that helps me and others out there get through their daily grind.

Trevor's stuff won't be removed from the site, but it's just not usable for print due to the resolution issues. So while they'll never be in print, they won't vanish.

Hey,

I started reading the strip once Lar was already the artist. I think he's great, I really think he has an impressive and unique drawing style that meshes really well with the tone of the strip.

HOWEVER....explain how this is not Speilberg pulling an ET, replacing the guns with walkie-talkies...or Lucas making Greedo shoot first.

Same difference dude. Leave the past be...it's how we got to where we are.

...Because he can't print the old strips due to resolution issues? It's not like he's gonna replace them on the site.

I think it's awesome. I came in during Chad, I believe, and I've read through the series a good number of times. I love Lars work and while Trevor might be upset, technically, LICD doesn't belong to him, and Im' sure, in a contract it states that the company (Would that be Blind Ferret?) has legal right to do whatever with his work.

I think as far as the site, they should have both. Have both of them on one page, so you can follow as it was originally, or follow with the same look throughout.

I'm excited and once the entire series is released I would love to buy the entire thing. I dont' follow other web-comics and I've never thought to purchae anything other then the shot glasses, but I love LICD, and would be proud to own the series. Having the old drawings usually keeps me from reading over again.

Plus...I like that twice a day idea...That would be most orgasm worthy if you two were crazy enough to do that

I would definitely have to buy a copy when this comes out... and if you 2 start up dating LICD twice a day, I'll be in heaven.

I think I would love that book more than I ever could a human baby.

I hope not, but honestly who knows.
