Long before Lar took over the reins of this strip, even before Chad, was a gentleman named Trevor Adams. Together, Trevor and I created 127 LICD strips before we parted ways.
While I’m not proud of the writing done in those strips, they nonetheless contain many historic moments that still resonate with our characters today. With that in mind, readers have long since demanded a printed book of the earlier strips. Being the completist that I am, I began looking into making it happen.
Unfortunately, I was faced with the realization that the resolution of these earlier strips were incredibly poor by print standards, even small by internet standards, and would look like complete ass in a collected book.
I left the idea alone for a while.
One day, during the time I reserve for poking fun at Lar, I said that with all his free time, he should redraw all of the earlier strips.
Imagine my surprise when he said yes.
Since then, he’s been working tirelessly to make LICD: Black & White happen, and I’m pleased to report that the book will be available within the next few months. The strips won’t be colored, but they will be in Lar’s style, the style I had always wanted for LICD.
We’ll keep you updated on how we’re doing, but for today, I wanted to leave you a little taste.

I’m giving serious thought to asking Lar if we can update LICD twice a day from here on in…
- Because I can.
