Tinker Bell Named UN 'Honorary Ambassader of Green'

Wow! What a fantastic honor for Disney’s Tinker Bell to be named the United Nations “Honorary Ambassador of Green” yesterday, October 25th. The award was presented to Tink from the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Communication and Public Information, Kiyo Akasaka at the UN Headquarters in New York.

Also at the event was Mae Whitman who is the voice of Tinker Bell in the newest Tinker Bell movie “Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure” which is releasing tomorrow, October 27th, from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

Also in attendance was Disney’s Raven Symone who does the voice of the fairy Iridessa in the movie as well as the movies director Klay Hall and producer Sean Lurie.

Kiyo Akasaka had this to say about the award being presented to Tink: “We’re delighted Tinker Bell has agreed to be our Honorary Ambassador of Green. This beloved animated character can help us inspire kids and their parents to nurture nature and do what they can to take care of the environment.”

I love tinker bell, and whats even cooler is that my mother in law was there, as tinker bell's handler, she works at WDWR, as the coordinator of outside character events. Ive been dying to tell people about this since my mother in law told me last week, but she could have lost her job, so i didnt.

tinker bell isnt made up! shes standing right there!
i have my issues with global warming, historically, the world has gone through climate changes, and theres no real, concrete evidence (that ive seen, though admittedly, i get bored after about an hour of looking) to prove this isnt one of those. that isnt to say we shouldnt take more care of our environment, simply that instead of focusing on something that probably isnt affected by us, we should try to focus on the whole picture. what can I do every day, to reduce the waste coming from my home? in what ways can I clean up the air we all breathe? is my city's recycling program worth the money? (evidence in some larger cities shows that recycling programs actually hurt the environment more than not recycling) if it isnt, how can I help make it worthwhile?
things like that. and of course, what products are available that are made from natural items, like the new 'green' cleansers and detergents, that could help to reduce contamination of the water supply. although, honestly, if the windex you use is getting into the water supply in such large amounts as to harm people, there are a few more issues that should be addressed...

More than anything this shows Disney's vicelike grip on the world.

Also Tinkerbell needs a handler? Is she a fucking bear?

Maybe it is for her safety, she does look really damn good in that dress wink.gif

...I can't tell from the picture but I really hope she is of age, or I may be in trouble.

Mae is 19, probably most well known for voicing Katara in the Avatar series.

tinker bell is in her 20's, (that wasnt mae, that girl and mae arent allowed in the same pic together) i know her name, but, suffice to say, she is tinker bell, and yes, she is off age. happy.gif and yes, my mother in law was there for her safety, and also to help her get dressed, to disney's standards. any time a character is sent out a member of management is sent with.

actaully, Raven Simone, the voice of irridessa, was pissed she couldnt get the voice actor and the character in the same picture with her, Anita got to see her pitch a fit.
