People are worried about the crime in New Orleans, I think. And for some how far away it is.

Didn't know we'd set a date yet...could be August. You can get better deals in the summer either month. The crime is not in the tourist areas. You just have to stick to the right places. But, by all means, let the voting continue. I just know I'm going back to New Orleans at some point in my life! biggrin.gif

Once we know where we're going we can worry about the date. For me, I'd prefer New Orleans, but I know that personally I'll have fun wherever the people are that's not Montreal, so I can actually be on vacation. (Not that I didn't enjoy Montreal, but I couldn't just hang with people all weekend... it was in my home city so I still had responsibilities and all that bullshit).

I voted for New Orleans, but like I said before, it doesn't matter too much to me as long as there's a pool. I mostly go for the people, not the location.

AC, NYC, or a real trip back here to MTL with real stuff to do!!! No poker in a Hotel room! I can do that back at home!!!

New Orleans will be a great place once its all "back together". In the meantime, if you would like Blind Ferret to Join you, could we do as of the 24th of June. Last week of June into July.

After that - We're at cons every weekend!

New Orleans is right next door to me, it might be fun to go to a meet. The last part of June/first part of July is usually good too, I usually get a week off of work over the 4th of July.

For those who are worried about how far away it is, they need to keep in mind that where ever the meet is, it's going to be far for some because there are people on the forum from all over the world.

Last year's meet was in Montreal, and that was very far away for me and SN, as we are in the lowest part of the US as you can get, literally. We had planned on going anyway and were looking forward to it, but we ended up not being able to make it.

New Orleans is quite a bit closer for a lot of us than some other meets have been (the ones I know about anyway).

I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just saying, no matter where the meet is, it's going to be far away for some.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I was merely stating what some people were worried about. I've driven to Chicago and Myrtle Beach for two seperate meets and I live in Montreal.

By the looks of my current travel plans next year I won't be attending.

I'm spending 7 days in Dominican Republic in February, and quiet possibly a week in Serbia sometime during the summer...does not leave much vacation time left over.
