We've got a favourite weapons thread, so I figure having a super powers topic wouldn't be too shabby.

Nothing to hard;

Who is your favourite super hero, and why (eg. powers, attitude, costume, etc)

or

What powers would you want?

I'll go first and say Spider-man (I was a fan before the movies - <eyeballs try hards>) mainly due to his whole, don't-stop-talking-or-I'll-piss-myself approach to crime fighting. Ultimate Spider-Man and Brian Michael Bendis is my Jesus.

My Power: General Time control. I figure if I stop and rewind reality, eventually a girl will say yes to one of my many, many bad pick up lines.

See, simple. Now you go.
"This isn't where I parked my car." Cooper?, Eurotrip

"You're the diet coke of evil..." Dr. Evil, Austin Powers 2, The Spy who Shagged me.

"Cause I had mine out while I was looking at yours!" J.D., Scrubs

"Maybe it's time you grew up a little" - John
"I'm pretty certain I'd rather not - Furthermore, Poop." - Rayne

"Number 8 - Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without an erection, make him a sandwich." SilentNight

"If I can find a bottle of tomato sauce, I've got the place to myself. Americans watching won't get that joke but Fuck 'em. LEARN! WE know what a sidewalk is." Adam Hills

Favourite superhero....is hard to pin down. Spider-Man's a good pick, but I can't say he's my favourite. I don't know if I even have one, at this point. I could make a top five, maybe even top ten, and not say which one was ahead of any of the others. For now, however, I'll go with Nightcrawler. As with Spider-Man, he's got the whole "witty banter during a fight" thing down-pat, but he's also overcome huge obstacles -- most notably, his demonish looks -- but is still very much the optimist.

And let's face it, aside from "snikt", "bamf" is one of the most well-recognized visual sound effects in Marvel. Good ol' fuzzy elf.

As for power...if I were to pick one just as-is....flight of some sort (if I were capable of supersonic speeds...flying at, say, bird-speed would be nifty, but take forever to get anywhere), or telekinesis. Because both would be neat, but also practical. Get from Point A to Point B quickly, especially in an emergency? Awesome. Skydive without a parachute or airplane? Awesome. Pulling stuff across the room with your mind? Awesome. Pummeling idiots without them knowing? Awesome. So either one? Awesome.

Now, if it were "which superhero's powers would you like" instead of just picking one, I'd be going with Archangel after his Apocolypse makeover (without the blue skin or evil in the wings). Retractable wings with intelligent defensive/offensive capabilities, eagle-like vision and hearing, flight speed up to Mach 3, super-efficient metabolism, strength.....and a few things I'm sure I'm missing. Be ever-so-handy, even if the metal wings wouldn't nearly be so attractive as feathered ones. And awesome.

Except Deadpool's more an anti-hero than superhero. Or I'd've TOTALLY picked him.

I mean...he Shoryuken'd Kitty Pryde. How hilarious is that?

I'm not into comic books, so I have a pretty limited range of superheros to pick from. Even though I own like 6 comic books from my childhood and all of them are marvel, I'd have to say Flash. I've always valued agility over strength and flash is the epitome of that. Also he's kind of an asshole, which I identify with.

I think for powers though, I'd have to go with teleportation. In addition to beating people up, this would be useful in everyday life. No traffic... ever again. Also it would make the tap on the wrong shoulder gag a lot more convincing.

I'm have to pick Gambit as my fave. No real reason other than he can be a bastard, and it's fun. As for powers, I'd take the kinetic charge thing as well. So many fun tricks you use to scare/piss off people.

Didn't have much super heroes contact during my childhood. I was mostly a Smurfs and Scrooge Mcduck type of kid. But I have to say kid-Goku was awesome smile.gif, and Rattail from beasties or wtv they were called, if they count at all.

My pick of super powers would be teleportation and telekinesis. Awesomesauceness

My favorite Super Hero is Wolverine, as long as a single cell of his survives then so will he. He survived a Nuclear bomb for crying out loud. Plus he is the only Super Hero I can understand having a serious mental disorder, if I lived through that many wars and lost my memory that many times only to have false memories planted I would go a little insane too.

I would like to instantaneously heal.
A constant internal struggle between that which I am and that which I have been taught to be.

Never made sense to me if he(Wolverine) is all instant heal, then why the hell does he have brain damage? I also can't stand how he's such a loaner but has so many ex-g-f's and love interests.

Not only that, but without his adamantium, he's had his brains blown out, and not lost any memory. But supposedly, his "brain damage" is the work of two things (or one of which, depending on who's doing the writing at the time): psychological breaking as opposed to physical (ie. brainwashing), and/or his healing factor "healing over" the terrible times in his life. And his healing factor varies too. Assuming it's after he had the adamantium ripped out of him (a wonderful story arc if ever there was one), and his healing factor evolved to something stronger, he could still be hurt, and stay hurt, if he overtaxed his system. According to the Xavier Files, if he were to be decapitated, and the head kept from the body, he'd stay dead.

And he's more a loner because everyone he gets close to dies or gets hurt: Silver Fox, Mariko, and so on, all died because of him. And he blames himself for the death of others (Jean for example...most of the times she died, and Kitty are examples of this as well). It's not that he hates being around people (well...depending, again, on who's doing the writing at the time, but overall he doesn't), it's that things turn to shit around him.

Quoth the Wolverine: "S'funny. Before joinin' this group there wasn't a scrap I couldn't claw my way out of solo. That much ain't changed...but it's comfortin' to know I got friends -- family, even -- coverin' my back."

But of any of Marvel's many, many convoluted characters, he pretty much takes the prize for most convoluted. Especially since the writers can't seem to make up their mind as to his healing factor's limits, and so on.
