These are the rules. These have been agreed upon by the mod team, and are now being posted for your knowledge.

1) No bigoted remarks will be tolerated, be they racial, religious, or otherwise.

2) No nudity, be it in a linked picture, posted picture, linked website, or avatar.

3) No images in signatures.

4) No flaming or harrasment.

5) No SPAM. SPAM will be edited or deleted. If all you do is post SPAM you'll be banned from the site.

The biggest rule, however is this:

"Be nice or don't post."

We're just all trying to enjoy ourselves, folks. Please make it enjoyable for everyone to be here.

If anyone ever needs to discuss a problem they have with these rules or anyone else, PLEASE feel free to contact Me or any of the Moderating Team - we're all here to help as best we can.

Don't you know that this totally violates the rules of the internet??

Specifically:
QUOTE
8. There are no real rules about posting.
9. There are no real rules about moderation either — enjoy your ban.
27. It needs more Desu. No exceptions.
30. No real limits of any kind apply here — not even the sky
35. If no porn is found of it, it will be created.
36. No matter what it is, it is somebody's fetish. No exceptions.
37. Even one positive comment about Japanese things can make you a weeaboo.

Honestly, you're taking all the fun out of being a troll....

I know it's a novel concept, but we're trying to manage a forum in which conduct is somewhat civil.

We could always enroll you in our troll training program. prop.gif

Seriously, though, most ISP's have rules you have to follow to be allowed to use their service. Might be worth looking up what yours say.

I don't understand this attitude some people have about forum rules. You can have all the freedom of speech you want out in the wide open ranges, but you've got to think of boards like someone's home...they have the right to make rules about what you do there. If you didn't want smoking in your house because it hurts your lungs, would you appreciate a group of people milling around your living room with big, fat stogies? rolleyes.gif

Dontcha know - we have rules so that we can break them on occasion and add a 'good show ole chap' before ban hammering...

Yeah, I keep coming back cause of the witty dialogue and the unforseen double entendres. That and yer as crazy as I am (if not slightly moreso)

It will be an adjustment for me, as this forum's rules are more stringent than I'm accustomed to... Bear with me (or Bare with me, if your mind works that way...). You have to understand that I'm used to sites where flaming is just another chance to prove how witty you are...

The old IEC (International Evil Collective) forum was a parody of role playing sites. As we all posed as supervillains it was natural for us to be nasty to each other. We'ed weed out noobs by testing how clever and inventive their flames could be. People who bored us got ignored, or banned for being pests. assassin.gif

And The Comics Journal Mess board? A bunch of neurotic, insecure geek/ artists criticizing each other? Need you ask? On the other hand, the best debates I've ever been part of are on that board. And I've learned how to give as good as I've gotten...

So I promise I'll try to behave. Let me ask this; if I can't say "moth*****ker", can I say "eddie puss" instead?

Personally, I've always found a cogent argument to be indicative of cleverness and inventiveness. Anybody can hurl insults, but despite their degree of complexity they still don't actually mean much.

I came over here from a forum of almost zero moderation (the site owner would occasionally come on and remove blatant pornography), and it was Troll City. I'd been there for five or six years and the attitudes of the place had gone so far downhill... So many people had left in disgust long before I did, and the "rite of passage" had turned into, "Who can you get to leave this place?" The nastier you were, the more "rep" you got.

Be thankful that Sohmer, Lar, Ryan and Tim have given us this place with active forum moderators to make sure that everyone plays nicely and treats each other with dignity and respect.

Despite this being a PG13 Forum (In theory, at least) we're not particularly strict about that. So long as you don't go around dropping Cluster F-Bombs in each and every post then we're good.

Swearing, after all, is a tool and not a toy. Use is sparingly and in the right context, and then people will know that you really mean it wink.gif

I'm surprised. I'm a member of a professional CAD forum, family friendly and stuff, all adults and all professionals. It has a language filter. We're supposed to be grown up around eachother but have to use creative fecking carp words to avoid the filter if we really want to make a blooming point.

Then there's this 'pg-13' forum, mainly used by adolescents and sometimes by big babies and they're known to be all sensitive around eachother, and 'oh why the fuck did you insult me'... FUCK!

wink.gif kidding folks

All I can say, there's a difference between being Noel Coward and being Andrew Dice Clay... It's not the tools, but the craftsman that uses them that produces art.

Coming from you... I'm not sure if you're trying to insult Andrew Dice Clay or Noel Coward. Either way, both of them are far more creative then any troll. And it still stands, that here, there is no trolling.

I'm not much of a forum person, most often due to trolls or just plain stupid people, but LICD has me thoroughly impressed with how well run it is. They keep the comics coming daily, the site able to be easily navigated, and their mods actually do something other then slamming the ban hammer on people.
A constant internal struggle between that which I am and that which I have been taught to be.

I'll make this easy for you, I'm much funnier than everyone. Not least because I don't need to flame people to make jokes. A backhanded compliment or clever, underhanded assumption that undermines a person's confidence works equally well in insulting people.

Really? You don't get it? Comparing the real rules of this site with the phoney-baloney rules that hackers and trolls made up to amuse themselves? Asserting that these obviously fake rules take precedence over the rules set by the people who run this site doesn't strike you as intentionally self-deprecating?.. Hmmmnnn.... Maybe I start deploying the "<sarcasm></sarcasm>" code?

Let's leave it at that, shall we? Making jokes is one thing, simply being borish is another entirely.
