Way to go guys!

I think Lar is probably a technically better artist, but, for me at least, Chad's style was the defining style of LICD. IMO, Lar's fits better on LFG where he was onboard from day one and help set the style and tone.
(I'm not sure how much the artist affects Sohmer's writing, but I enjoyed the jokes and stories from Chad's era the best as well, which probably helps quite a bit.)

And yes, I drew all the characters in this strip. I probably could have had a decent career as a forger.
Later!
I actually did the same thing a few months back. I'm surprised that more of us didn't. A couple of the links are broken, but you can see the very very original comic if you find the right one.

And as for the early manga style, It's interesting to say in the least. However, it's not my preferred style of art. Love Lar's work the most, but the other guys did a great job as well.
!!!
How about one collaborative art piece between all of these guys to celebrate 2000 strips?

Those are pretty good recreations. I think your style is much better though. Not that I thought the others were bad it's just that when I started reading the comic you had already been drawing it for a while and that's what sold me. If I had started before you did I don't think I wouldn't have followed this comic as passionately. I LOVE your style. I mean hey I paid 20 bucks for you to draw me and I probably would have paid more.
On another note, where would one find that very first comic?

I'm completely serious and I can back it up if you want. I've talked about it several times on podcast and interviews I've given.
I backed out before Sohmer went live cause my artwork was complete crap. He was way better off without me at the time.

Sorry if I seem doubtful it's just phrases like
and
seem to be setting things up for Sohmer saying he has no idea who you are.
I really don't know how you'd convince me short of Sohmer posting with confirmation.
Sorry.
I am the only cynical one?

Nope, I'm with you, Scar. Until Sohmer confirms it, it didn't happen. Sorry jhorsley3.

And honestly, if I was going to 'make this up' don't you think I would have done some better artwork?
I only said Sohmer probably wouldn't remember because it was over 6 years ago, I only talked with him for a month or two about it then didn't talk with him again. Hell, I forgot about LICD until I found it by chance sometime last year online, thought the name sounded familiar and went looking into my HDD folders and found the file I linked to previously.
Again, you don't have to believe me, I just wanted to show everyone another old crappy view of Rayne.

That one I'll give you.
Perhaps, but surely you can see how that sounds?
I'm sorry I don't believe that. And here's why:
You've put it out there as fact and probably gained several hits for your website by linking it to Licd. Which, if your right, is absolutely fine. But if you are making this up then that would be a fairly cheap thing to do.
But it makes me think you just posted your first post as a way of getting a few more hits.
Apologies if I'm wrong.

I agree, it sounds off, but I'm not sure how it can be said otherwise.
But it makes me think you just posted your first post as a way of getting a few more hits.
Apologies if I'm wrong.
If I was doing it just for hits and made it up, I would probably have come to the forums here and linked to it back in April when I originally posted it on my site.
I understand it's hard to believe, but it is a fact and I did not do it for hits to my site. I don't do my comics for hits, I do them because I want to. Granted, I like hits to my site, who wouldn't? I just saw the comic and thought it would be a good idea to show an even older view of Rayne. Or maybe a view between Marcus and Trevor. It was around November 2002 when I did this so where ever that places it.
@Tentousama
Maybe he will, maybe he wont. It's real though, in all it's craptastic glory.

Which pretty much means we're going to have to agree to differ.
Sorry.
