Hey guys, I'm trying to find an apparently rare, illustrated version of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit that I remember seeing in my elementary school's library in 5th grade, but have yet to ever see since.

It was illustrated with pictures, illustrations and character designs from the old 1977 The Hobbit film by Rankin/Bass, which even included illustrations of scenes from the book that never made it into the film.

I have yet to ever see it again, and as far as I can remember, I THINK the cover might have been blue. It was such a beautiful book, like a combination of an "The Art Of" movie book with the original novel, and I would love to find it again. Is there anybody here who might know about it?

I've been doing some digging and one of the only other official illustrated versions of The Hobbit was done by Alan Lee. I have never seen this one before, but it's on Amazon.

Read my novel at http://kellenlynch.googlepages.com

The entire first book is posted and now available in an edited form on the front page of my site. Also, I've started posting the short stories. WEEEEEEE! The second book is now posted (it's unfinished, but y'know...it's still free...)

Ever read my work? Think I deserve a couple bucks for my efforts? Good News! I'm now taking donations @ http://kellenlynch.googlepages.com (the paypal donation button is at the top. You can't miss it). I'm trying to come up with a reward for those who donate over a certain amount.

I'll pretty much try listening to anything once but my heart lies in Rock and Metal. As well as listening to music I play Bass Guitar for a Progressive Metal Band called Dark Matter and write my own music under the moniker Duality for which I play Guitar and Keyboard/Synth. I own that version and it would fit the 'Art of...' meets novel description.
My Band - Dark Matter
My Music - Duality

It's been a while since I've seen it. Someone I used to hang with special ordered (from Waldenbooks) a white leather bound copy of the complete J.R.R. Tolkien. It had some illustrations.
