So Ive seen this movie a few times, but I dont understand it fully.
Is it all one giant metaphor for something? Is there truly an alien?

Or is it all just left for personal interpretation?

Thanks guys.

I remember not really enjoying that movie. I just took it as he was crazy and moved onto whatever else was on tv.

 • Interests:I love movies, I don't watch much tv anymore except for DEXTER! I am huge fan of that guy. I'm learning guitar (self taught) and it's going well. I like all kinds of music and mostly I don't listen to the radio, I like to look for bands that are more underground *sorry if that sounds cliche*. That's not to say there isn't some good entertainment out there, just... well this is what I'm listening to lately:

City & Colour
Coheed and Cambria
Dustin Kensrue
Emarosa
Flight of the Conchords
Fleet Foxes
Imogen Heap
Isles and Glaciers
Lights
Missy Higgins
Owl City
Paramore
Say Anything
Sufjan Stevens
The Reason
Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker
You, Me, and Everyone We Know

There are a lot more, but not enough room so I'll stick with those for now. I'm pretty sure they all have myspace accounts if you want to take a look.

it's left for interpretation. it shows that some things can't be explained by science, but only if you believe that. you could watch the movie from two points of view:

1. crazy guy in a mental hospital and there are some coincidences that occur

2. he's an alien.

what you believe in and what you put your faith into makes you understand his concepts or not.

that's what i got from it anyway... although i haven't seen that movie in like 6 years.

I'm actually a huge fan of that movie. I thought it was well acted, had a beautiful soundtrack which I listen too often, and was stimulating.

The answer is that it is up for interpretation, and the movie has enough evidence for both sides to make that plausible and satisfying. Either the alien was a self defense mechanism for his mind, or he had an alien consciousness living inside of him.

Dreams without ambition are fantasy.
