I'm curious if there are any films you've watched that you hadn't watched in a long time and thought to yourself, "How did I like this?"
For me I can think of two examples. When I was little I watched The Sword and the Sorcerer and absolutely LOVED it. It had a three blade sword that shot them out, as well as a hidden dagger. Richard Lynch as Cromwell and Richard Moll. Well roommate who also loved it found it at KMart for $7, we watch it in horror. It was so bad. But I can blame that on youthful ignorance. But I did just watch Armageddon this weekend, what a mistake. I watched it in the theaters and although I didn't think it was a "Great" movie I did enjoy it. There were some funny lines and some actors I liked. But "How?" I ask myself now. That movie was so damn corner. "Get NASA on the phone, we've got some bad news" WTF? Who would do that? I really felt like I deserved a good swift kick in the nuts for just watching it.
So what about you?

I did this with some movie not long ago. I just can't recall what movie it was. It was horrible to me now, so I think I erased it from memory.
Of course, the same happens the otherway around at times. Bring It On is one of those. When I saw part of it when it came out, I thought it was stupid. But I sat down and watched it one day due to boredom, and while not great, it was certainly entertaining.

I can't think of a specific movie right now, but J always blames this phenomenon on "theater goggles". His theory is that just the act of going out to a theater, spending a ton of money to see the movie, and likely dealing with a bunch of assholes in the theater, makes a move seem better because, unconsciously, you're desperate for it to be good so you can justify the outing.
It sounds silly, but I've seen it happen where we went out to a movie, thought it was great, rented it when it came out on DVD and thought it sucked arse.

E.T. comes to mind. I enjoyed it as a kid in theaters and I rushed to buy it when it was released on dvd. I had a hardtime sitting through it.
On the flip side, Dune. I was lost and clueless in theaters. Only saw it because it was a sci-fi movie. Since then I read some of the books and learned a few things, the movie was a little more enjoyable. Only a little because I read some of the books. Movie would have need to been 5 hours long to do a decent job.
Add any Monty Python movies to that. When I first saw them, I barely learned English(was French speaking only back then) and the Brit humor was totally lost to me. I got better since then and now I really love them. Took me forever to get the whole swallow thing from Holy Grail
