So far it seems that one actor has been taking the spotlight, and that man is Christian Bale. I'm not knocking the mans merits, he's a pretty good actor, he has to be for the parts he's gotten so far. The Dark Knight, while not the greatest movie in the world, was close to it. However, it was Heath Ledger (God rest his soul) that stole that movie. Just like Williem Dafoe stole the show in Spiderman and Boondock Saints. It seems Christian Bale has been siphoning his career off of one part, and to be perfectly honest, when I saw Terminator: Salvation (wasn't worth the money I paid to see it) I just saw Batman fighting robots.
Now Bale is hunting down Johnny Depp, if you've been paying attention to my mind set so far, you'll understand what I'm going to say next. Basically, it's going to be Batman, hunting down Jack Sparrow, only instead of pirates, it's going to be the Mafia and instead of swords there will be bullets. While I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by this movie, I'm still skeptical. Mainly due to my own interpretation of the characters, should be better though, since I don't believe Depp will need an English accent for the movie, which is good cause I'd probably walk out of the theater. At that point and time Johnny Depp would me a combination of Jack Sparrow/Sweeny Todd/Some Mafioso and I don't think my head could mentally take that.
Your thoughts on the matter of Batman vs Sparrow?

I have to say that I can understand where you're coming from, but perhaps are exaggerating just a tiny bit
I've seen Bale in some of his pre-Batman movies - American Psycho, The Machinist and The Prestige spring to mind - and he is a very capable actor with a surprising range. I don't think it is beyond his ability to portray a 1920's-style Mafioso-esque character really well... but at the same time, I expect the director to tell him to stick to the gruff, dour voice he's had to use for the last 5 years....
I've never been a big fan of Johnny Depp, truth be told. I enjoyed him in From Hell (where his english accent was fairly plausible) but I would be surprised if he plays anything other than 'Johnny Depp in silly clothing' for this or any other movie. Again, that might come from the director who only wants the voice and mannerisms that made Charlie and the Chocolate Factory/The Pirates of the Carribean successful, but either way that sort of makes me cringe.

Like I said, it was mostly just me. I have this nasty habit of associating actors with their more well known previous works. Which actually makes it John Connor hunts down Sweeny Todd. But I was a big fan of American Psychopath and Bales other works, just like I am with Depp and most of his roles. Mainly due to his very flashy attire that he wears, which makes designers poop their pants in either joy or disgust. I do, however feel that Depp and Tim Burton are pretty good uh.... "buddies" because he seems to get the lead roles an awful lot.
I find it funny that I'm associating Depp's casting in Tim Burtons movies, not to the fact that Depp has amazing abilities as a thespian, but that him and Burton are exchanging black cherry snatchings.

But Batman and Pirates were probably their bigger and previous rolls, so you're associating them with the wrong stuff. Maybe you should just stop associating actors with rolls.
btw, We get it, you associate actors with rolls. I'm going to close this thread. It's got no point and it's not going anywhere.
