I have a Blackberry that I adore. It's my third one. However, the ear pieces for such things are pretty cheaply made pieces of crap. Over the last couple of years, I've gone through three of them. Frankly, I despise holding the phone to my head for multiple ergonomic reasons. Thus, since my last ear piece went tits up, I've not spent much time talking to folks on the phone. Many of my friends back home have asked why I never call....that's pretty much it. Silly, huh? I have some business to attend to that requires more phone use. I really need to spend more time on the phone, but most of the time I have available is either while driving or multi-tasking.

Yesterday, I decided to finally purchase ANOTHER ear piece. Go to both the AT&T store and Best Buy....find out that the ear pieces that I like (the single speaker version) are about $20-30....alas, the ones I wanted all required a second adapter as they didn't plug into my Blackberry. The "universal" jacks were either the wrong style or too small. I think the phone companies do this on purpose. The one I wanted that fit my ear was $25. An adapter was another $10, bringing my total to $35 plus tax.

I asked the Best Buy guy about Blue Tooth ear pieces. I mean, if I keep having to fork out $20+ for a stupid ear piece only to have the wire go out on me in a few months (which he agreed they are known for), it makes sense to maybe step it up. Oh yeah, they have your fancy schmancy high tech Blue Tooth jobbies that cost from $80 on up to $150. Voice activated...you can dial out on them....they pretty much can talk to E.T. Some of them look straight outta Sci Fi flicks. Not in Adventure Grrrl's budget at all.

Helpful dude, however, pointed out that they had a basic Jabra model on sale for $37.99. It wasn't the bestest model (he reminded me that you get what you pay for with these gadgets), but if I'm not using it a ton (and I'm not on the phone THAT much) it's a pretty decent Blue Tooth. The reason it was on sale is because it's not got a lot of bells & whistles, plus it's small and doesn't fit a lot of folks well. Despite having an enormous ego, I really don't have a large head...I've bought children's glasses...most hats are way too big for me...a couple of the more spendy Blue Tooth models felt uncomfy...small Blue Tooth on clearance for just a bit more than I was looking at for a stupid wire ear piece? BONUS!

So, now I've joined the ranks of folks with the blinking blue light coming from their heads. Hands free to commit mischief!

Too true! ive been using Bluetooth ever since it came out.... and i have say most think im nuts... this one time in walmart i had a lady actually come and ask me if i was okay and asked if i needed to see a doctor because she could recommend one... i had to tell my friend on the phone to hold on while trying to not literally rofl!!! it wasnt until i took the bluetooth off and made her listen to my friend on the phone that she believed i wasnt insane!!! still a time i will treasure due to technology...

im just waiting till they get the things so small that we cant even see them on the side of our heads... then itll be really fun...
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
