This is a question that I wanted to direct to Sohmer, but am interested in the thoughts of other LICDnaughts.
I have recently discovered a show called Californication, and immediately fell in love. The writing is quirky, the characters hilarious, and overall story very catching. I want to know if Sohmer/Lar or anyone else watches this gem and if so, what are your thoughts? Do you see any similarities between the two as I do? (Rayne and Hank for example) I am also interested to know if anyone who reads LICD does not like it.i If not, why?
Anyways, thank you for your time, and happy Memorial Day to everyone and to our proud neighbors to the south. Slainte!

Now everybodys died, so untill our teard are dried
We'll drink and drink and drink and drink and then we'll drink some more
We'll dance and sing and fight untill the early morning light
And then we'll throw up, pass out, wake up
And then go drinking once again!

I watched the first season, it was entertaining but not great. Calling it good would even be pretty generous. The way the finale ended really turned me off from caring about a second season, that was just shitty writing.
As for similarities between the show and the strip, yeah I agree they're there. Both lead characters are smarter than thou and arrogant, with complete disregard for social norms. Both have lots of sex. Both are white guys with dark hair. Both come across as slightly masturbatory on the part of the writers behind them, no offense. They both often give their opinions on subjects very vocally, are never refuted or given any counter-arguments, and get everything they want without repercussion. If you can find and sustain an audience with that, or if you find that to be compelling or entertaining, enjoy. Personally, I've gotten amusement of it, but it grows old when you begin to desire something deeper with more honesty.
