Howdy folks, been a while since my last official post, so it's time for a new one. wink.gif

This week's book is:

Orphanage by Robert Buettner

This story is the first in the Jason Wander series. Humanity is under siege from an alien force that has set up their base on Ganymede (one of Jupiter's moons). The Slugs, as they're called, are attempting to destroy humanity by dropping guided asteroids on Earth. Several cities have been wiped out, leaving many as orphans. Jason Wander is one of the orphans, constantly getting into trouble after the death of his parents. Finally he is given an choice, the Army or else. He enlists and ends up volunteering to join the forces (chosen only from the orphans) being put together for humanity's desperate counter-attack, equipped with Vietnam-era weaponry and a ramshackle spacecraft.

This story is a coming-of-age story in the style of Starship Troopers. I rather enjoyed it, as much as I did Starship Troopers.

Tell me what you think. Also, feel free to make suggestions of books to read and review.
C'mon in. Sit down. Read a little.
