An older,
white-haired man walked

into a jewelry store one Friday evening
with a beautiful young gal at his side.

He told the jeweler he was looking
for a special ring for his girlfriend.

The jeweler looked through his
stock and brought out a $5,000 ring.

The old man said, 'No, I'd like to
see something more special.'

At that statement, the jeweler
went to his special stock and brought
another ring over. 'Here's a stunning
ring at only $40,000' the jeweler said.

The young lady's eyes sparkled and
her whole body trembled with excitement.

The old man seeing this said,
'We'll take it.'

The jeweler asked how payment
would be made and the old man stated,
'by check. I know you need to make sure
my check is good, so I'll write it now
and you can call the bank Monday to
verify the funds and I'll pick the ring up
Monday afternoon,' he said.

Monday morning, the jeweler phoned
the old man. 'There's no money in that
account.'

'Yeah, I know,' said the old man, 'But
let me tell you about my weekend!

Don't mess with Old People. :-)

Larry died. His will provided $40,000 for an elaborate funeral. As the
last guests departed the affair, his wife Sarah turned to her oldest and
dearest friend. "Well, I'm sure Larry would be pleased," she said.

"I'm sure you're right," replied Jody, who lowered her voice and leaned
in close. "How much did this really cost?"

"All of it," said Sarah. "Forty-thousand."

"No!" Jody exclaimed. "I mean, it was very nice, but $40,000?"

Sarah answered, "The funeral was $6,500. I donated $500 to church. The
whiskey, wine and snacks were another $500. The rest went for the
Memorial Stone.. "

Jody computed quickly, "$32,500 for a Memorial Stone? My God, how big
is it?"

"Four and a half carats."
"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly."

The first one's hilarious. The second one's good too, but I like the first one better.
