Sidebar: not saying it WILL suck... I'll have to see it cause there isn't enough in the trailers to let us know anything, but if it does it won't surprise me.
Also note to Michael Bay.... getting Frank Welker to do Soundwave in this one does NOT excuse the fact that you didn't sign him to do Megatron in the last one and that hes STILL not doing Megatron in this one.... sorry

I agree on all counts. Megatron is "dead" but hes going to be saved by a Decepticon and brought back to life. And he will be a tank in this one. Im actually kinda excited about that because he was a tank in the G2 comic stories and he was way fun then XD And also if the "fallen" is the main enemy in this, Megatron and Optimus will have to join forces to stop him. That's how it has had to be in the past... and a Megatron/Optimus alliance is not for people to fuck with.... stuff blows up!
I also hated the look of the robots... some of them looked ok but I wish optimus would have had his facemask the whole movie... he didnt need lips. Also Megatron looked like Doomsday jumped out of a Superman comic and gave the beatdown to Optimus instead of some other mentionable Kryptonian. And I also hated how Optimus and Bumblebee seemed to be the only ones with color. Everyother transformer was a silver/black/grey combo and in their fights and close combat melee it was almost impossible to see who was doing what to whom! They just need to clean it up a little....
Also on a sidenote they are bringing Jazz back to life. They only killed him so they could bring him back for GMC to introduce a new car. So his death was a promo death. But in all seriousness aside, and not trying to sound racist but... if Jazz is supposed to be black and he could choose any GMC car available... I doubt hed choose a Solstice. And I know that GMC was introducing new cars... but I'm sure there was a new Cadillac around they could have used.

Be ready for a LOT of fanboy gnashing of teeth in regards to how Devastator looks in the movie.

I big flaw with the first cartoon transformers movie.. if Unicron was so big, planet sized, then wouldn't the transformers running around on him been the size of a spec of sand in comparision? We certainly wouldn't have seem them running around on him unless it was a massive close up. And it would have taken WEEKS to travel along him.

As for your statement Waycos... when he is in robot form he isn't quite as big as a planet. In the movie, the planet cybertron is bigger then he is. Also when the robots are attacking and landing on him.. it did require close up's to see them. The dinobots attacked him in force and left several holes in his body, but on a zoomed out view of him, they still weren't visable. And finally, size distortion between modes isn't unheard of for transformers. Take Soundwave, Megatron and Astrotrain for example.
BTW Unbalanced.. you aren't alone in the disliking of the first live action movie. There were things about it I thought were done well, but also enough things done wrong that I only saw it once in theater and that was enough. I will look in on it in the light that it wasn't God awful terrible like it had the potential to be. So the things I didn't like, I had to be anal about... so I'll take the movie and its flaws with a grain of salt. This one however, I won't be so gentle.

That's pretty much where I stand as well. My only major complaint with the first one is that visually, the robots were a mess. It was difficult to really know what you were looking at at times, and when they fought it just became an entanglement of grey metal.
I also seem to be of the minority who find Shia amusing, and certainly among the majority who enjoy viewing Ms. Fox.

I thought Shia did a great job, its just unsettling watching the guy from Even Stevens destroy Megatron,

I don't mean to insult the Transformer fans, but I have never understood why this franchise is taken seriously. At best it's mindless fun, which it seems the movies have captured strongly.

On another note I don't think Transformers should be watched in a theatres unless it's at an IMAX. I got the movie for DVD and the robots are much more visually pleasing on flat panel screen in your own living room. I also don't think you're suppose to concentrate on all the moving parts at once, but I believe that they captured the fact that they are living robots from another planet- with constantly moving parts that express their character and emotions a lot of the time- which is why I enjoyed Frenzy the most. Crazy little ninja boombox that he was.
I never found any of the Megatrons I watched on the television when I was little as pleasing to listen to, though. (I say trons because I recall different colored ones, and different storylines that I really couldn't keep track of.)
If anything I believe the first movie was establishing a wide-scale audience, rather than gathering up the hard-core fans. They took the 2 hours they had to try and make a simple and understandably addictive plot for new watchers, and a vaguely memorable and new start for other fans of the series. I do not think they intended to make an exact copy of the old Transformers, but Americanized it, I guess.
Also, Japanese movies and giant robots n such always struck me as a bit cheesy. And yes, it is weird seeing an Even Stevens dweeby brother fight of giant alien toy robots from space- and getting away with it.

It was by all counts a very good popcorn movie and just very enjoyable.
Let's all face it, we aren't watching this movie or this first for it's Oscar winning acting or script.
We saw the first because we wanted to see a huge robot rumble and boy does this movie deliver. Optimus Prime showed a glimpse of "Badassness" when he annihilated Bonecrusher in the first movie. This time round he goes all out to make you wet your pants with excitement. A fight between him, Megatron, Starscream and a helicopter (looked like Blackout?) was just absolutely amazing. THIS was what we were waiting for. There's a few more fights like this aswell.
The acting, as i said, isn't top notch but it is entertaining and has enough laugh out loud moments to keep you interested.
The ending i must say was a little anti-climactic but you're kind of glad it's over to an extent as it is a long movie.
The movie isn't perfect people but it is a whole load of fun that even my wife and parents enjoyed wholeheartedly.
On the subject of Soundwave... He will leave you disappointed i'm afraid.
Go see it.
**OH and Rob SmileZ you are right**
