I cant stand the phrase I before E except after C. This incorrect phrase has caused me more spelling errors then I can count. I have no idea who created this nonsense.
hmm. to make this an actual topic and not me just complaining about something on a whim, are there any other things that you guys have trouble with on spelling? stupid things taught or words you never get right? I have a couple of ridiculous ones. Appriciate being a big one. Ediquitte. I'm a terrible damn speller.

I'm a horrendous(misspelled the first time) speller myself. The whole damn dictionary should be scrapped and just respell everything phonetically.

I've always been an excellent speller. It's a pretty good general rule, but of course there are exceptions. (Not too many though in the long run - weird is one of the words I commonly see mispelled.) And don't forget the rest of the rhyme "or when sounding like A as in neighbour or weigh".
If people started spelling things phonetically my reading speed would drop dramatically. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

LOL, Ive never actually heard the other part of that ryhme. That makes a lot more sense. Without that part there are a lot more examples of it being wrong. Neither for example, and any name that ends in ein. I was applying that phrase to mean that their was only one IE dipthong. Good to know.
