The increasingly disturbing trilogy will see a new installment after it's writers demise.
The author of Artemis Fowl, Eoin Colfer is currently writing a new installment in Douglas Adams' legacy, "The Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy."
I am both excited and worried to see it in production, while I would love a new book in the series, I would love it written by Adams. A funny concept is only as worthwhile as it's execution. Without a doubt I'll be picking it up, let's hope it lives up to the rest of the series.

I wasn't aware that there was another book due out, thanks for the info. Wikipedia indicates that it's expected in October 2009. I'm with you; I hope it lives up to the rest of the series.
