I'm sure theres already a topic about this movie but I'm too lazy this morning to search for it. I'm in the middle of watching Batman: The Dark Knight, and after seceral scenes with the joker, one phrase from LICD comes to mind whenever he starts monologing:
"I love this guy!"
I made this topic to see if anyone else who's watched the movie has an odd fascination with th chaotic bastard known as The Joker? At least the new one?

I love the psychotic bastard. When I first heard Heath ledger was going to be the joker I thought it would suck but Im glad to say I was wrong. The Dark Knight was, due to my dark sense of humor, one of the funniest movies I've ever seen because of the Joker. I almost got me and my friend kicked out of the theater because I laughed so hard after his magic trick laugh.gif

my favorite parts were when he told the story of how he got his facial scars. and the whole "Come on, hit me. I want you to hit me!"

By far the best Batman movie ever made. I don't think it is going to far to say that this movie is Heath Ledger's (sp?) best performance. It sucks that he will not be able to reprise his role at a later date.

Excellent movie, excellent performance by Heath Ledger.

biggrin.gif Joker is da funny! A true joker in this movie. All the other "jokers" are just cross-dressing posers

He is my role model for if I ever have to fulfill the role of a villain.

He is the only reason I would ever re-watch the cheap trash that is the "Dark Knight", who is really no knight at all. I mean he masks his identity and strikes from behind, the two things no true knight would do. Oh and let's not forget about Robin (yes Batman, we all know what kind of "rent" is he "paying")

I actually know a guy who I insist was ripped off by Heath Ledger for this role! Well, not really, but he is just as psychotic and chaotic. I absolutely loved his character in this movie, he stole not only the mob's loot, but the show as well!

May Heath Ledger rest in peace, he truly earned it after that role.

Oh, and the 'magic trick'? BEST...PART...EVER!!!!!!!!!! I literally laughed until I was hyperventilating. Rose had to come into the room to make sure I was ok.... and I almost wasn't, since I still couldn't breathe a few minutes later. Yeah, I'm strange, shut up.

Perhaps your friend is copying the personality after Malcom McDowell in A Clockwork Orange? Gary Oldman has said in interviews that after a certain scene that he spoke to Ledger and mentioned it reminded him of Malcom from A Clockwork.. and Ledger smiled and said he had been watching the movie a lot lately.

I doubt it very seriously. I've known the guy for years, and he's actually pretty unstable in his own right. So far the list of different disorders I can see in him with my uncertified eye is pretty respectable. He's also had a pretty rotten childhood and adolescence, among other things. I mean c'mon, when you try to kill and eat your own father....even if he did have it coming to him....
