I should preface this by saying I totally want to see this, it looks awesome. That said, this is one of the best / worst trailers I've ever seen. Yes, it makes me want to see the film, so in that case I guess it accomplishes everything it intended to. However, I feel like the trailer told the whole story already. Now granted, this is one of those movies where the story is somewhat hard to sell using just stylish flashy cuts, but it does still irk me to think I could be going to see this movie without any hope of being surprised by the story.

Speaking of style and flash, very interesting look for Aronofsky, definitely interested to see what he's done here.

Hmm...looks like a showpiece for Rourke. Always wanted to see more of him since Sin City, looks like I'll get my chance.

If all of life's a stage, I want to be the guy operating the trap door.

Never offend people with style when you can offend them with substance.

AMAZING

I feel like this, more than any of the other award season films, lives up to and surpasses its hype. The story far surpasses that of Slumdog Millionaire or Benjamin Button (just naming those because they're the ones I've seen of the current Oscar group). The cinematography is far more raw, and because of that it creates a much more authentic piece. Mickey is Randy is Mickey. It really is one of the most interesting, beautiful, compelling and fateful merging of a performer and a role.

When I first saw the trailer, I was a little miffed. I felt like they gave me the whole movie, just because so many other films had been so pathetically guilty of that. I was so pleased when watching the movie to realized that wasn't the case. The trailer gives you a sense of the story, but it is far from complete.

Probably my favorite film of 2008.
