I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
You’re so close to me that you nearly died

"Hai, guyz! Let's make Data say a swear word! We can sell millions of swearing data-dolls"
I don't know. I will see this one eventually, I just don't know if it is worth paying for a ticket and $95 small popcorn to see another STar Trek in the theatres. I have never been a fan of the original crew so it requires a GOOD movie to make me enjoy one of their stories.

Zachary Quinto (Sylar from TV's Heroes) as Spock? Cool. Karl Urban (Eomer from LOTR) as McCoy? Also cool. Simon Pegg as Scotty? Oh HELL yeah!

The entire first book is posted and now available in an edited form on the front page of my site. Also, I've started posting the short stories. WEEEEEEE! The second book is now posted (it's unfinished, but y'know...it's still free...)
Ever read my work? Think I deserve a couple bucks for my efforts? Good News! I'm now taking donations @ http://kellenlynch.googlepages.com (the paypal donation button is at the top. You can't miss it). I'm trying to come up with a reward for those who donate over a certain amount.

I don't get it, you mean why they would release a prequel instead of a movie that should come after Voyager and Nemesis in the timeline?
Because it worked so well when they did it with Enterprise!
oh, wait... THAT SUCKED!

Not only did Enterprise not work out so well, but this movie has events that never happened in the TOS series. Pike was only about ten years older than Kirk, not 20 (though how much Pike will be in this film is yet to be seen). The TOS crew had never met before Kirk took command, as McCoy was also older than Kirk, only went through basic, and then Star Fleet Medical. Spock had, on numerous occasions, said that he had never met Kirk before he took command. But that's just a fanboy rant. As I said before, they better have an actual good story for this film, otherwise I might rage.
SPOILER:
It also isn't a good sign when the film's plot can be summed up as Time Travelling Romulan Pirate.

I don't know about that. Romulan chicks work up my willy way more than Klingon chicks.

Let's be honest, Trekkies are some of the weirdest, most fickle social rejects out there. A studio can either make a movie solely catering to them, and be lucky if they break even, or they can make a good movie and build a new fanbase to go back and milk for more money with future installments.
