How do I get rid of this annoying devil?
Every man wants to live. They theorize with staying alive always kept in mind. They think that "The man who lives on when he has failed in his intention is a coward" is a heartless definition. That to die having failed is to die uselessly is a mad point of view. This is not a shameful thing. It is the most important thing to the Way. If you keep your spirit correct from morning to night, accustomed to the idea of death and resolved on death, and consider yourself as a dead body, thus becoming one with the Way, you can pass through life with no possibility of failure and perform your office properly. -Miyamoto

I know the one you mean. Got it a month back. Worst. Problem. Ever. Days of finding solutions on forums and such led to temporary reprieves, but nothing I did could completely get rid of it. In the end, a reformat was the only solution.

To get rid of these I use Hijack This to kill the open threads then I find em and delete them both from the program and from the system folders. Also, you may need to use regedit and other tools which can destroy computer.

Be in safe mode on your administrator account. It could help.

Then install a good scanner such as Avast and that also can help.

Otherwise, its time for a format, but it shouldnt need to go that far

Man that page with instructions on trying to remove it is pretty annoying itself. A little knowledge how on how windows works helps will all of these things. Boot into safe mode and get rid of all the crap that starts with the system, HKLM/Software/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run .. and a number of other run keys under users, etc. Other areas crap can hide is under services startup, antivirus startup, and knowing microsoft I'm sure there are a few more I'm not thinking of.

Spybot Search & Destroy will nuke most threats too, so between that & Hijack This, most users should be able to get rid of that dang thing, which seems to have updated itself.
Also: Linky-Linky. This is last years version explained.

Actually, Malwarebytes didn't get its buddy WME126 at all.

However, thanks to this blasted virus I'm now MUCH more capable of finding my way around a computer (and the forums are probably happier since I'm spending my time "STILL" working on this damn virus.

Why boot in safe mode though? Maybe I'm just dumb I always work on things as they are.

Safe mode ensures that the program doesnt run. Thats because it ignores the \Run line in the registry
