I, personally, am not a fan of the direction the Bond films have gone in for years. Going from espionage, class, and style. A ladies man and a killer to more of a series where action and over the top stunts and explosions have replaced plot and suspense. But this really is sad. They're resorting to oddities:

New Bond Girl.

Well, she no longer has the 'oddities', so I don't see it as much of a publicity stunt. Any word yet on whether Daniel Craig is going to have a full-frontal scene? wink.gif

I'm hoping, DC.

Waycos, I'm happy that we've gotten away from the very gadgety Bond that Roger Moore started and that Pierce Brosnan partially continued. It is refreshing to see a Bond willing to kick ass, but I can also still see the suspense and espionage in it. Yeah, they've become more action oriented, but it's not like this is XXX or something like that.

Oh, and about her? Yeah, she kinda creeps me out. I don't like the Bond Girls this time around... I was very attached to Vesper.

Of course there won't be a Daniel Craig frontal nudity scene? Have you never watched a Bond movie? They never have full frontal nudity. Or even bare breasts with visible nipples, when it comes to the women.

I liked the previous one, so I have good hopes for this one too.

I like the new direction, a little darker like the new batman, relatively of course.

As much as I liked CR, Bond needs to retain some humor. And martinis.

Just watched Quantum of Solace last night. Not going to spoil anything, and I say that the movie is good. Not really the revolution that Casino Royale was, but it was enjoyable for what it is - an action flick.

I too have been to see QoS. I enjoyed it. I think it's better than all the Brosnan films for one simple, yet somehow overlooked reason:

Ian Fleming wrote this. Or at least the short story upon which it was based.

Everything post "Living Daylights" has been someone else's stab at a scrennplay based on the concept of Bond. These two Daniel Craig films are based on actual Fleming novels and show the real gritty, edgy side of a Secret Agent finding his feet in a new world.

This is how Fleming wrote Bond. Yes, they have to pack in action now because of films like Triple-X and the like. I'll even forgive them for moving the location in Casino Royale from Monte Carlo to Montenegro. Sort of. But this is James Bond. The real James Bond.
There is no light at the end of my tunnel. There is no tunnel for me. I am the light at the end of everyone else's tunnel. By the power of thought you can make me the dappled sunlight of a shady brook, or the headlights of an oncoming train. The choice is up to you.

Although Fleming wrote a short story called "Quantum of Solace" it is not this movie. Bond only had a bit part in that short story in general. They even admit it they took the name and little else from that story. This is just a hired pens' continuation of CR.

I feel the new Bond movies are great for non Bond fans.

I remember walking out of Casino Royale and said, if that wasn't a Bond movie, it would have been an average movie, but with the Bond name tagged to it, it's an atrocity.

I don't care about the action, but the character, he is not a Bond.

I don't mind that he isn't, yet. But I hope within a couple movies we see him grow into the stylish Bond we all know and love. Otherwise then I agree with you completely.

They should bring Sean Connery back for a geriatric James Bond adventure. Something like retired extremists taking control of a Florida retirement home. James Bond and his rocket launching wheelchair to the rescue!

*dies laughing* 4MM, I still thank the stars you came back to this forum. biggrin.gif

I actually really like Craig as Bond. I dont think he's unstylish at all, and shows a lot of class, when he wants to. Its seems like a more real Bond, rather than the almost superhero-esque figure he reached towards the end of the pre-Craig era. And I dont even wanna think about the campy, bad-pun laden atrocities that the Roger Moore films were.

BAHAHAHHA *wipes tear*
That's a good one. I would definitely see that! Can we also address that Sean Connery is still sexy?

I have never been a Bond person. I've seen one of the older ones but I really liked Casino Royal and I'm stoked for the new one. Isn't this the first time ever in the history of Bond movies that there has been a sequel to a storyline?

i just watched a trailer for it. I will see it. I really liked Casino Royale and this looks as good. Much much more enjoyable to watch Bond use his brains than watching the Roger Moore movies

Wait... Roger Moore's Bond used his brains far more then Craigs. This version is more like XXX then a Bond film. A bunch of over the top action scenes linked loosely by a simple plot.
