Hey guys, I was looking at that sticky up yonder, and noticing it was about a year old... so I was wondering if anyone could help me with this age old question...

If I've recently come into ownership of a PS3, and a reasonable amount of money, what kind of TV should I get to achieve the best picture?

I'm trying to find something somewhere in the grand range, in which hopefully I can pick up around here and avoid the disasterous shipping costs (I.E. Wallmart)... but I know only what I've researched online, which has me leaning towards an HD LCD, which I would probably jump on if not for A) my horrible, horrible fear of ghosting, and cool.gif my bad luck with always having dead pixels in anything I touch.

I'm also hopefully looking at around the 42-46ish mark there....

I've only got a Wallmart around here, which I went to go look in, but so far everyone been telling me NOT to get a TV at wallmart, but I don't quite see why there would be a difference...

Can someone educate me? Thank you!

If your looking for a 46" HD TV for $1k or less, you might want to start checking van's in alleys.

That size generally starts around the 1.5k range.

Well, if you're in Canada, at least, you could do worse than buy a TV from Wal-Mart. 30-day in-store warranty, so if anything happens in that first month, they'll take it back pretty much guaranteed (or, if it's been more, and it still seems to be in fairly good condition, bring it back without the receipt for store credit or an exchange -- little secret wink.gif), and you can get an extended warranty now, too. Think for most TVs it's a 2-year, but some are 3-year. Costs a fair bit more, but it's probably worth getting if you're spending $1000 on it. And by default, there'll be a 1-year warranty with the manufacturer, anyway.

As for price, I know that we carry a 42-inch Philips for about a grand.

If you're not in Canada, though, disregard everything I've just said. tongue.gif

No, no, Mizafim is right...

There were about four or five different TVs at Wallmart, 1080p in the 42-46 range for roughly 900 dollars.

Comically enough, the one I settled on was actually the 42 inch Phillips. It's non-too-shabby. I likes it.

Did you happen to also check out prices on any 50-60" LCDs or Plasmas or projectors (1080p all, of course)?

I'm hoping to move to Canada in a year (or so) to study.
About time I got a sig... :/
