Just got this thing reformatted and downloaded all my drivers.... yet I'm still seeing spurts of frame loss and application opening frame loss.
I'm wondering what I can do to help speed up the PC a bit, I want stuff to open when I click it, I want my applications to run at the FPS they're "showing" without any skipping.
Any help here from our LICD techies? I don't exactly trust stuff like this:

Incase some info is required:
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E 6850 @ 3.00GHz
3.25 GB RAM (4Gigs really but XP only reads that much)
NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT
Asus P5N-E SLI Motherboard

Type msconfig in the Start - run box
remove any programs that you don't need from startup. In general remove everything and if something stops working go find out what program was needed to make it work again.
in the services panel, click on "hide microsoft services" and do the same.
If you have the USN journal reader service running, get rid of it and then open a command window ( start - run - "cmd" )
and type the following:
fsutil usn deletejournal /d c:
While you're ther type
Chkdsk c: /f
and let it plan a chkdsk for the next reboot
Reboot...
Check in the control panel to see if you have hibernation enabled. If yes then disable it, it's a complete waste of hard disc space and in general only causes problems.
Get the following two utilities:
ccleaner (http://www.filehippo...d88e8bc6498b71/) *free
Run the file clean up once. And the registry clean up as many times as it takes to stop showing up problems.
o&o defrag (http://www.oo-softwa...nt/oodefragpro/) * 30 day trial
Run it on "complete/access". Amazing stuff.
Hope that helps a bit.

Well, Arthur hit the nail on the head.
The only thing I'd add is to list what anti-virus you're using (if any). Anti-virus programs are usually your biggest memory hog. I'd recommend Avira or Kerpersky anti-virus programs. They perform much better than Norton and AVG in terms of memory usage and detecting viruses, worms, trojans, etc.
