Yeah, deal with this at work all the time.

nVidia's in serious ****, but so is everyone else. They just happen to have gotten in the public eye.

Intel, and along with them most notably Dell are facing huge FTC action over the Intel kickbacks that prevented many companies from using AMD if they wanted to be able to afford Intel stuff... Dell was the worst offender, enough so that after the multitude of class actions this year they may no longer stay solvent...

This problem only affects the 8400 and 8600 series vidoe cards. The 8500, 8800, and all 9000 series cards do not experience these probles.

I have an 8600 in my rig, and i've had it since january. no issue. could it be due to i have good cooling or something odd like that? or am i just lucky

That was good reading.
It also explains perfectly the five different HP and Compaq laptops we've had in during the last 3 months with the first two problems.

The notebook does not detect wireless networks and the wireless adapter is not detected in the Device Manager.
#
There is no video on the computer LCD panel or external monitor.
