Yes, I know it's been quite a while, but I am back now.

This week's book is: Into the Darkness by Harry Turtledove.

Into the Darkness is the first book in a series that sort of retells the Second World War. As indicated on the cover, there are dragons, behemoths and leviathans instead of airplanes, tanks and submarines, and the use of magic and magical items are common. Sticks replace guns, eggs replace bombs and crystals replace radios. While there are lots of battles and skirnishes, the series isn't just about the horrors of war; we follow individuals from all the nations as their world is changed around them. The people of each nation will be somewhat familiar, corresponding to a nation from our own world, though not necessarily one that fought in the War. Scholars of the 2WW will recognise battles and events, though they don't perfectly correspond to battles fought in Europe. All in all, I found the series very captivating; perhaps some of you might as well.
C'mon in. Sit down. Read a little.
