This week's book is His Majesty's Dragon:

An alternative history set during the Napoleonic War, the various nations of the world have successfully tamed dragons for use in war. The story follows Captain Laurence and the dragon Temeraire, taken as part of a prize when Laurence captured a French vessel. Laurence's life then changes, as an aviator, he can no longer be a ship's captian. He must join the Aerial Corps of England.

First in a series that is curently five books long (The fifth book is due out shortly). Naomi Novik does an excellent job at incorporating aerial combat into the War. Some of you might be familiar with the work, if you're also members of the LFG forums; I know Sohmer enjoys the series. All in all, this is an excellent book.
C'mon in. Sit down. Read a little.

These truly are great books. Well written and gripping. A must read.
I was about to go crazy when I came to the realization that you can't go somewhere you never left.

It's all fun and games until someone loses their soul. :P

Just so you know, TDND = The Dork Next Door. I am and always will be a dork ;p

Why don't dragons ever have names like Steve or Charlie? Why do they always sound like some virgin's screen name?

Well, why don't you read the series and find out? wink.gif The naming convention is explained in there.

I can tell you there is one dragon named "Lily" in this storyline, however.

Sounds pretty interesting. If Stephen King likes it, it can't be all bad.

Question is, why do you go to Stephen King for a review on a fantasy book?
Alcohol dosen't solve any problems, but fuck, neither does milk!
