The title is pretty self explanatory; I've been trying to make a simple gadget that will display the most recent LICD strip on my Google personalized homepage. I have no experience with XML and only outdated knowledge of HTML, but I took a gadget that displayed a Garfield strip of the day and substituted the proper url targets where necessary. The code looks like this:

CODE
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<Module>
<ModulePrefs title="LICD of the Day" title_url="http://www.leasticoulddo.com/" author="Draeger" author_email="dan.dturner@gmail.com" author_link="http://www.licd.com/" author_location="Massachusetts" screenshot="http://archive.licd.com/strips/comic.gif" thumbnail="http://www.leasticoulddo.com/files/avatars/Avatar-Fanboy%20Rayne.gif" width="900" height="330" scaling="true" scrolling="true" description="Add LICD to your page." render_inline="optional" category="funandgames">
</ModulePrefs>
<Content type="url" href="http://archive.licd.com/strips/comic.gif"/>
</Module>

When I ran it through the scratchpad preview tool google has, it worked fine. But when I tried to upload it in the developer's toolbox gadget google provided, I get this error message:
QUOTE
Error parsing module spec:
Not a properly formatted file
missing xml header

Now, the only way I could upload the xml file was as a Gmail attachment (because I don't have any webspace of my own) -- Is that causing the error or something completely different?

Sounds a bit contra-indicatory for the company. Do they lose the hits and the advertising revenue that goes with?

MOD EDIT: How is this relevant?

Not really relevant in helping to reduce their revenues I suppose. Feel free to delete the message.

Yes. From what I could see, you need a feed or webspace to host the xml file. I temporarily created an xml file from your code with notepad and uploaded it on my site here: http://cyberstorm.ca/feed/comic.xml you may add it that way. However I won't be hosting it for long. Perhaps contact Sohmer about hosting your gadget once you've refined it alittle?

Beware the Lorena Bobbit virus. It turns your hard-drive into a 3 1/2 inch floppy.

Hope to see more replies one of these days,especially feedbacks from the thread starter. Seems like this thread has been inactive for such a long time. Think topic should be closed.

More likely he's spamming that URL at the bottom, but my French sucks so I could be wrong.
